Citizen Charter

Introduction

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is one of the Armed Force of the Union of India under Ministry of Home Affairs and entrusted various duties like Law & Order, Counter Insurgency & Operations, Anti Naxal Operations etc. in aid to the States. The Central Reserve Police Force came into existence as Crown Representative’s Police on 27th July, 1939 with a single Battalion. The Force was renamed as the Central Reserve Police Force after enactment of the CRPF Act on 28th December, 1949. Now the Force has grown upto 246 Bns includes 208 Executive Bns, 6 Mahila Bns, 15 RAF Bns, 10 COBRA Bns, 5 Signal Bns, 1 Special Duty Group and 1 Parliament Duty Group. The Force headed by Director General is further divided into 3 Zones at Jammu, Kolkata,Hyderabad & Guwahati under Special DGs

20 Adm Sectors in the Force are headed by Inspector General located at North-Western Sector – Chandigarh, Northern Sector – New Delhi, Kerala & Karnataka Bangalore, M.P. Sector – Bhopal, Central Sector – Lucknow, Bihar Sector – Patna, Western Sector – Mumbai, Rajasthan Sector – Jaipur, Southern Sector – Hyderabad, Jammu Sector – Jammu, Manipur & Nagaland Sector – Imphal, North Eastern Sector – Shillong, Srinagar Sector – Srinagar, Tripura Sector – Agartala, RAF Sector – New Delhi, COBRA Sector – New Delhi, West Bengal Sector – Kolkata, Chhattisgarh Sector – Raipur, Odisha Sector – Bhubaneswar, Jharkhand Sector– Ranchi and Dehradoon Sector-Dehradoon.

38 Adm Ranges HQr are headed by DIG located at Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Bhopal, Neemuch, Gandhinagar, Nagpur, Pune, Durgapur, Bhubaneswar, Ajmer, Muzaffarpur, Ranchi, Guwahaty, Khatkhati, Rampur, Jammu, Imphal, Chandigarh, Srinagar, Agartala, Lucknow, Silchar, G/Noida, Siliguri, Jagdalpur, Allahabad, Sonepat, Raipur, Hiranagar, Delhi, Patna, Signal Range Kolkatta, RAF-I New Delhi & RAF-II Mumbai , Taralu,Sambalpur & Jamshedpur .

17 Ops Range HQr are headed by DIG located at Kohima, Bongaigaon, Dantewada, Udhampur, Baramullah, Anantnag , Srinagar,Dibrugarh,Bokaro,Midnapore,Chaibasa, Gadchiroli, Palamau, Awantipura, Sukma & Konta.

43 Group Centres headed by DIG located at Avadi, Pallipuram, Bangalore, Bhopal, Gandhinagar, Nagpur, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Allahabad, Imphal, Muzaffarpur, Ranchi, Bilaspur, Delhi, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Jammu, Ajmer-I, Rampur, Neemuch, Silchar, Rangareddy, Durgapur, Mokamaghat, Jallandhar, Pinjore, Lucknow, Khatkhati, Gurgaon, Ajmer-II, Gwalior, Siliguri, Agartala, G/Nolida, Kathgodam, Amethi, Sonepat, Raipur, Kootah, Srinagar ,Taralu Sambalpur and Jamshedpur.

20 Training Institutions (1 Internal Security Academy at Mount Abu, 1 CRPF Academy at Kadarpur, 4 Central Training Colleges at Neemuch, Coimbatore, Mudkhed and Gwalior, 8 Recruits Training Centres at Amethi, Jodhpur, Neemuch, Avadi, Peringom, Srinagar, Rajgir and Taralu 3 Counter Insurgency and Anti Terrorist Schools at Chittor, Silchar & Shivpuri, 1 Central Training College ( T & IT) at Ranchi and 1 Dog Training Centre at Taralu (Bangalore). 1 CSJWT.

3 Central Weapon Store are headed by DIG located at Rampur, Pune & Siliguri.

7 Arms Workshop are located at Hyderabad, Rampur, Guwahati, Bantalab, Khatkhati, Awantipur and Pune.

4, 100 Bedded Composite Hospitals are headed by IG and located at Delhi, Hyderabad, Guwahati and Jammu.

17, 50 Bedded Composite Hospitals headed by DIG and located at Ajmer-I, Allahabad, Avadi, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubaneshwar, Bilaspur, Gandhinagar, Imphal, Muzaffarpur, Nagpur, Neemuch, Pallipuram, Pune, Rampur, Silchar & Ranchi.

Mission

The mission of the Central Reserve Police Force shall be to enable the government to maintain Rule of Law, Public Order and Internal Security effectively and efficiently, to Preserve National Integrity and Promote Social Harmony and Development by upholding supremacy of the Constitution.

Vision

Broad duties being performed by the CRPF are:

  • Crowd control
  • Riot control
  • Counter Militancy / Insurgency operations.
  • Dealing with Left Wing Extremism
  • Overall co-ordination of large scale security arrangement specially with regard to elections in disturbed areas.
  • Fighting enemy in the event of War.
  • Participating in UN Peace Keeping Mission as per Govt. policy.
  • Rescue and Relief operations at the time of Natural Calamities and disasters.
